The Voss Foundation African Bazaar is a curated collection of artisan goods, crafted in the regions of Sub-Saharan Africa where Voss Foundation provides access to clean water to communities, helping individuals improve their own lives.
For a sneak preview of some of the items we will be offering at Women Helping Women?San Francisco and?New York this fall, click?here!
It all started with our staff and volunteers who love to purchase local crafts when we visit our water projects, always coming home with beautiful and unique pieces that support the communities in and around our project sites. ?Interest in these gifts began to grow, as friends and family would request items from our site visits to our water projects around Sub-Saharan Africa.
So, we decided to use this demand for beautiful and unique handmade African crafts to fund our clean water systems and wells. We realized if we could sell these pieces as a fundraiser at our events, instead of unrelated silent auctions and raffles, we could also use the items to educate the public about our work. Most importantly, we knew this would boost the economies in the regions where we work, especially knowing that the women on-site have more?time?to devote to income-generating activities, once they have facilitated access to clean water.
Voss Foundation introduced the African Bazaar at our 2011?Women Helping Women New York Luncheon, immediately garnering an overwhelming response from supporters who were happy to learn that their purchases help create a Ripple Effect?by funding Voss Foundation water projects in communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, improving lives through health, education, economic growth and empowerment!
The African Bazaar?s runaway success inspired us to create an online African Bazaar for our Voss Foundation supporters to enjoy! Here you can shop?and show you care with beautiful pieces crafted in the regions where Voss Foundation?with your help?is changing lives with access to clean water.
