President Obama to tour Sandy damage again

CHICAGO?

President Obama is taking his second tour of the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy.

He'll arrive in New York to meet with local officials, FEMA representatives, and victims.

More than 17,000 households remain without power across the state.

That does not include more than 30,000 customers who "are unable to safely receive power without customer repairs," according to the Long Island Power Authority.

Victims are finding few places to go for shelter.

FEMA is recommending that New York fixes up the homes as best they can before winter arrives.

Repairs may only include tarps, plastic and plywood.

Officials are expected to focus on getting power restored where utility companies are still cautious about reconnecting homes.

CNN reports that New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is investigating whether utilities Long Island Power Authority and Consolidated Edison were prepared to respond to Sandy.

On Wednesday, the attorney general's office subpoenaed both companies to get information about what they did ahead of the storm.

Elizabeth Flagler, a spokeswoman for LIPA, said in an e-mail to CNN, "We have reviewed the AGs subpoena and intend to comply with it in all respects."

Joy Faber, a spokeswoman for ConEd, said the company is cooperating with the investigation.
