Ricky Hatton reveals reasons for coming back ? Boxing Special

Former welterweight world champion Ricky Hatton has asserted that his defeats against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao were not the reason behind his comeback. According to ?Hitman?, it was his retirement period which made him realise that he needs to put on his gloves once again.

Hatton is now 34 and he has been in retirement for the past two years. Following his second round knockout defeat to Filipino fight sensation Manny Pacquiao, Hatton hung up his gloves. He had suffered a tenth round knockout defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr., the current WBC welterweight titlist. Hatton was riding an undefeated streak when Mayweather struck him down, and later Pacquiao destroyed him for good.

The Briton fighter suffered through depression throughout his retirement period but no more. Hatton believes it is time for him to come back and show the world that he still is the same fighter who can make his fans proud.

?That's not how I envisaged my career ending and that's not how I wanted my kids to remember me,? said Hatton in an interview with the Daily Telegraph. ?People are saying: 'You had a good career, Ricky, you don't need to be ashamed of it because you got beat by Mayweather and Pacquiao'.?

Hatton has previously spoken of his retirement as a step towards greater failure. Now, he tends to eradicate his mistake by stepping in the ring once again with the giants of the arena.

?And people say, 'Ricky, you are a legend'. But I feel a failure because of what I did in that time gap. That's why I came back.?

Hatton is scheduled to face Vyacheslav Senchenko in his comeback bout. If the Briton is able to score a victory, he will then move on to fight Paulie Malignaggi and then probably Briton fighter Amir Khan.

?Whatever happens on November 24 I've already won,? Hatton added. ?Of course I want to win a world title after everything I've been through.?

Hatton is looking forward to revive his career, something he believes will make others and his relatives proud of him once again.
